The county’s public schools serve over 3,000 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. The Benewah County School District serves 1,200 students from kindergarten through twelfth grade in five schools throughout the county. The district’s largest high school is St. Maries High School (SMHS) in St. Maries, Idaho. SMHS offers a comprehensive selection of college preparatory classes as well as advanced placement courses designed to prepare students for post-secondary success or skilled labor positions after graduation from high school. Extracurricular activities such as athletics, band and chorus are available at SMHS in addition to numerous clubs and organizations providing additional opportunities for student involvement outside the classroom setting. Plummer-Worley High School (PWHS) is located in Plummer, Idaho and serves nearly 400 students from grades nine through twelve with a variety of college preparatory classes as well as advanced placement courses designed to prepare students for post-secondary success or skilled labor positions after graduation from high school. Extracurricular activities such as athletics, band and chorus are available at PWHS in addition to numerous clubs and organizations providing additional opportunities for student involvement outside the classroom setting. Kootenai Joint High School (KJHS) is located near Harrison Lake in Harrison, Idaho and serves approximately 500 students from grades nine through twelve with a comprehensive selection of college preparatory classes as well as advanced placement courses designed to prepare students for post-secondary success or skilled labor positions after graduation from high school. Extracurricular activities such as athletics, band and chorus are available at KJHS in addition to numerous clubs and organizations providing additional opportunities for student involvement outside the classroom setting. Overall, Benewah County provides quality educational opportunities that will prepare all students for success in college or other post-secondary endeavors while fostering a safe learning environment that emphasizes academic achievement, social growth, and responsible citizenship throughout its six public school districts across Benewah County’s four townships: St Maries Township; Plummer Township; Worley Township; Harrison Township; Wallace Township; and Lakeland Township. According to medicinelearners, Idaho is home to several renowned medical schools, including the Idaho College of Osteopathic Medicine (ICOM). Located in Meridian, this college offers a four-year DO (Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine) program with a focus on primary care and evidence-based medicine. Students here have access to world-class facilities including a state-of-the-art simulation lab, as well as clinical experiences at leading hospitals throughout the state. The school also provides dual degree programs such as DO/MPH (Master of Public Health) and DO/MBA (Master of Business Administration). The University of Idaho also has an excellent medical school located in Moscow. This college provides students with a DO program that focuses on innovative research and cutting-edge treatments. In addition to its academic offerings, this school also provides students with hands-on experience through its internship program which allows them to gain valuable clinical experience while working alongside experienced providers from around the state. The Idaho State University College of Osteopathic Medicine is another notable medical school located in Meridian. This school provides students with a DO program that focuses on primary care and evidence-based medicine. Students here have access to world-class facilities, including a state-of-the-art simulation lab and clinical experiences at leading hospitals around Idaho. The school also has an active student organization which provides members with resources, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced professionals.
