Lexington Center in Lexington
The Lexington Center in the city of Lexington is an excellent mix of conference center, hotel, theater and sports stadium. Here you will find the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the Rupp Arena, a shopping mall and the Lexington Opera House. The latter offers 1,000 seats and is a very good starting point for those interested in culture. The Lexington Opera House dates from 1886.

Kentucky Center for the Arts in Louisville
The Kentucky Center for the Arts in the city of Louisville is arguably the best performing arts center in all of Kentucky. The Kentucky Center for the Arts opened in 1983 and since then has served as a venue for Broadway Across America, Kentucky Opera, Louisville Ballet and Louisville Orchestra. Individual artists such as Ray Charles, Jim Carey, Gregory Peck, Bill Clinton or Bill Cosby also performed here. The Kentucky Center for the Arts has a total of 3 stages.

Kentucky Theater in Lexington
The Kentucky Theater, a historic cinema in the city of Lexington, opened in 1922. This beautiful cinema with a long tradition fell victim to a fire in 1987, but was immediately restored and has had a new look since 1992. The cinema specializes in foreign and independent films. The magnificent interior is particularly remarkable. There are occasional concerts at the Kentucky Theater.

Louisville Palace in Louisville
The Louisville Palace is historic film palace in the city of Louisville. The film palace, built in the Spanish baroque style, dates from 1928. Back then, the large hall accommodated over 3,000 visitors, today there are still 2,700. The building has been on the list of historic places since 1978 and has been a listed building since 1982. It still serves as a cinema nowadays, but concerts are also often held since the building is used for album recordings due to its beautiful interior.

Speed Art Museum in Louisville
The Speed Art Museum, formerly known as the JB Speed Art Museum, was founded in 1927, making it the oldest art museum in Kentucky. It is also the state’s largest art museum and has an excellent reputation. It is located in Louisville. In addition to the exhibitions inside the museum, visitors will also find open-air exhibitions here. The museum’s collection spans from antiquity to the present day and the focus is on “western art”. The Dutch, French and Italian paintings are particularly recommended. Among the highlights of the exhibition are works by Rembrandt, Ruben, Monet, Rodin, Matisse, Cézanne and Paul Klee.

Kentucky Science Center in Louisville
The Kentucky Science Center is located in the city of Louisville and is Kentucky’s largest interactive science museum. It was founded in 1871 as a natural history museum. However, nowadays it is a very interactive museum where visitors can mimic numerous experiments. The Kentucky Science Center attracts over half a million visitors annually. If you are traveling with children, you should treat yourself to a visit.

St. James Court Art Show in Louisville
The St. James Court Art Show in the city of Louisville is an open-air art exhibition. The St. James Court Art Show has been held annually since early 1957 and attracts up to 300,000 visitors. The St. James Court Art Show is not just any open air art exhibition, but the largest in the entire United States.

National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green
As the name suggests, the National Corvette Museum in the city of Bowling Green in southern Kentucky exhibits around 30 models of the “Chevrolet Corvette” from General Motors (GM) on a total area of 10,700 m². This sports car, which has been manufactured in the USA since 1953, is linked in a special way to the American spirit.
The museum was opened in 1994. An archive and a library complete the exhibition. Visitors can also visit a cafe here, which is located in a railroad car from the 1960s.
On the night of April 14, 2014, eight of the exhibition trolleys disappeared into a hole that was 9 meters deep and 12 meters wide and that had suddenly opened up. Probably one of the numerous caves had collapsed into the limestone-containing underground.

Lexington History Center
The Lexington History Center is an association of 4 museums located in downtown Lexington along East Main Street between North Upper and Cheapside. These are the Lexington History Museum, the Lexington Public Safety Museum, the Isaac Scott Hathaway Museum and the Kentucky Renaissance Pharmacy Museum.

Creation Museum in Petersburg
The Creation Museum in the city of Petersburg is probably one of the most controversial museums in the USA. Because here the story of its origin is presented according to a Christian world doctrine, the Young Earth Creationism. On an area of 5,000 m², an attempt will be made to explain the creation of the world with the help of creationism. The museum was opened in 2007 with the help of the non-profit Christian fundamentalist association Answers in Genesis.
