Buses run from the airport to the center, the fare can be paid with a Karwa Smartcard (from 10 QAR), having bought it in advance from the machine. An alternative for picky passengers is a taxi for 30-40 QAR.
Pegasus takes you through Istanbul for 155 USD one way and 9 hours 40 minutes, Turkish Airlines – from Vnukovo with a similar connection for 235 USD and 9 hours.
Qatar Transport
Visitors to Qatar can use taxi services: they are cheap, available at any time of the day or night, easily recognizable by their bright colors. The minimum fare is QAR 10 per trip, prices for 1 km in Doha are QAR 1.60 during the day and QAR 1.90 at night (from 21:00 to 5:00), outside the capital – QAR 1.90 regardless of the time of day. For an order by phone, they charge another 5 QAR, for 15 minutes of waiting – 8 QAR.
There are no passenger trains in Qatar, the railway track is laid only in regional industrial complexes.
The network of city buses is developing, new routes connect the center with the airport or run in the area of the Western Bay. The fare is paid using Karwa Smartcards, they can be purchased at special machines for 10 QAR (2 trips within the city), 20 QAR (daily pass) and 30 QAR (rechargeable card for an unlimited period).
For tourists, a double-decker Hop-on Hop-off bus was launched with stops at the Souq Waqif market, Pearl Qatar Island, the Corniche and museums. Ticket for 24 hours for adults – 190 QAR, for students and children from 5 to 15 years old – 90 QAR.
Car rental in Qatar
To explore all the beauties of Qatar, we recommend renting a car. Traffic is right-handed, the road surface on the main highways is excellent, drivers are careful, traffic jams are only at peak hours, speed limits are 60 km / h in cities and 120 km / h outside them. Most parking is in the center of the capital, near hotels and public institutions.
The cost of compact models – from 90 QAR, standard sedans – from 110 QAR, SUVs – from 165 QAR per day. Gasoline is cheap – 1.90 QAR per 1 liter.
Rent-a-car offices (both local and international Budget, Hertz and Alamo) are open at the airport and throughout Doha. Payment is often accepted in cash, but without a card, a passport and a minimum of 1000 QAR are required as a deposit.
Visa to Qatar
According to the wise policy of tourism development, successfully implemented by the Qatari authorities, citizens of the Russian Federation can obtain a 30-day visa to Qatar right upon arrival at Doha International Airport. There is no visa fee, of the requirements – only a six-month supply of the validity of the passport on the date of entry. In the event that a tourist has a fair desire to immerse himself in the exotic country of sheikhs and Bedouins, the visa can be extended on the spot for another 30 days.
Visa on arrival
In order to obtain a tourist visa at Doha Airport upon arrival, you must present a foreign passport, the validity of which must be at least 6 months at the time of entry into the country. Mandatory availability of other documents is not stipulated, however, it should be borne in mind that the border guard has the right to inquire about return tickets, confirmation of hotel reservations and proof of sufficient funds for the period of stay.
The validity of the visa is 30 days. The visa can be extended, for which the tourist must apply for an extension of stay in the country to the Department of Immigration of Qatar. If approved, the visa will be extended for another 30 days.
The visa stamp is valid for one or more entries – the main thing is that the total number of days of stay in Qatar does not exceed 30.
Citizens of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Georgia can also obtain a visa to Qatar upon arrival, the procedure is identical to that described above. But citizens of other CIS countries must apply for a visa at the consulates of Qatar, they are not granted a visa upon arrival.
