The Delaware State Capitol is the seat of legislature of the state of Delaware in the city of Dover. The building is also known as the Legislative Hall. The building was built from 1931 to 1933, i.e. during the Great Depression. The style of the building is somewhat anachronistic, if very beautiful. Since it was built in the 1930s, it is surprising that the architectural style is based on neo-colonial construction methods. It is possible to visit the Delaware State Capitol on a guided tour.

Block House and Ryves Holt House
The Block House in the small town of Claymont in the far north-east of Delaware is probably the oldest building in the state. The building is believed to have been built in 1654. However, there have been recent criticisms and doubts about this assumption. So it seems more likely these days that the state’s oldest building is the Ryves Holt House in the small town of Lewes in southeast Delaware. This dates back to the year 1665. Whatever the older one is, both are very steeped in history and are well worth seeing.
