Thom Sweeney Launches Collection for Mr. Porter

At a time when the demand for high quality and genuine products has increased tailors experiencing good times again. A firm of Mayfair in London that we have mentioned here earlier on our site Thom Sweeney. This young company with duo Luke Sweeney and Thom Whiddett spearheaded contribute in their way to taking the classic tailoring to new levels. A few weeks ago launched its first pair RTW, ie the finished collection, exclusively online at Mr. Porter.

There is a big demand today for real high quality of finished garments. Many customers do not have the time or the interest of tailored and looking for a good alternative. The purpose of Thom Sweeney collection of Mr. Porter is to deliver as good ready-made garments as possible and with a flair and design tailor-made. In the first collection was launched five suits, a jacket, two pairs of pants and a tuxedo. The price level is relatively high, about 15 000 for a suit.

We met Luke in London this weekend and he told me more about the line.

“It has been received really well and we’re pretty confident that it will be expanded in the future.”

Luke is very careful that they do not compromise on anything when it comes to design, style and quality. He wants to be able to offer a bespoke feel without all måttagningar and their own unique touch to the garment. He believes, however, that custom is better and always will be the company’s absolute focus.

The style of the collection is like Thom Sweeney style house a little more modern than the average on Savile Row. The waist is narrow and clearly marked. The sleeves are narrow and armholes sits higher. After trying out a jacket in the right size exclaimed my friend that “it is like to be hugged by a bear.” The building uses the minimal canvas for a slightly softer feel. The shoulders are soft but still has a certain structure. Infästingen of the sleeve in the shaft forms a silhouette called “roped sleeve head” or cigar axis as it is also called. This is different from soft extremely skjortaxlar which becomes completely flat at the seam and provide a round shaft shape without selection.

We were impressed by the results and think it is a good option that stands up well in its price class. If you have a normal physique and want a classic garments as a ready-made costume with proper design and with the help of a few small adjustments to a change tailor / seamstress to sit perfectly. It will be fun to follow this dynamic duo in the future, and see what the collection is going. Who knows, in the future perhaps their garments sold directly in Sweden?
