New GPS Watches From Nike and Polar

In issue 5 of Runner’s World, we will present a test of different GPS-watches. But this is an area where there will be new models. Last in line is the Nike with its first GPS watch and Polar with a new version designed for triathletes. Runner’s World has not had time to test any of the clocks yet but we will return safely to the topic later.

Nike + Sportwatch GPS
Although the shoe and clothing manufacturer Nike earlier had watches in its range, it is kept now as they launch a version with built-in GPS. According to the company, Nike + Sportwatch GPS is designed to be simple but clear and three buttons and a touch screen control navigation.

The watch’s GPS unit collects of course, information on time, distance, pace and number of calories burned. During the whole training session sync GPS also with Nike + sensor in the skonför to deliver as accurate data as possible on the distance and pace. The information can then be shared among other things via the running forum which has four million members.

Nike Watch has been developed in conjunction with the GPS-maker TomTom and should work for both Mac and PC computers.

Nike + Sportwatch GPS will be in Swedish shops Runners ‘ Store, Ran the lab, Stadium and Intersport from July. The price is expected to be approximately 2 400 SEK.

Polar Cs500 +
Polar Cs500 + new watch manufacturer has developed specifically for adventure racer ochtriatleter. The company describes it as a training computer for endurance athletes with several new and exciting features for optimum planning, execution and analysis of your workout, in detail.

Rcx5 has a new feature called ZoneOptimizer.

It will provide the ability to perform training in the best way by customizing the user’s training zones according to daily fitness and previous training. That way you should get maximum power out of each workout.

The clock also provides a grenspecifik guidance based on personal preferences, and it also allows changing training branch (running, cycling, swimming) during the training session, with some simple press. The watch and the heart rate monitor can handle drinking thanks to WearLink + Hybrid transmitter.

In conjunction with the launch of RCX5 launched new sensors. G5 is a GPS sensor, rechargeable via mini USB and s3 + is a stride sensor. For the cycle is a sensor for speed, distance and Cadence. Rcx5 will be available in two colors, black and red, and in four different packages with various sensors. The black is launched in May and the red in september 2011. All sensors can be purchased separately.
