Last week we looked at Barbas collection for summer and today we remain in the Neapolitan region for another premium manufacturer of classic shirts. It is Finamore 1925 with a perfect cut, hand sewn button holes, shafts and collars seduced style conscious men for nearly 90 years. We looked closely at the company’s spring collection that includes more than just well-made shirts.
Finamore started like the name suggests 1925 when Caroline started business as a small sewing studio in downtown Naples. The target group was Naples and upper class society and the Neapolitan cut quickly won interest outside the city. She led in turn their knowledge of cutting and sewing to his son Alberto who in 1960 opened its first factory in the San Georgio a Cremano; a neighboring town to Naples. Alberto was gifted with a mind for business and managed to develop what his mother had started from a small workshop to a large factory where hand-finished detailing combined with modern equipment.
In the early 1990s, the third generation of the family at the company, after more or less grown up in the factory, it was obvious that Simone, Paolo, Andrea and Anna Maria would work further on what their grandmother once created. With several flagship stores around the world and a collection that extends beyond the initial product Finamore shirts have become one of Italy’s most interesting actors. In addition to shirts have Finamore also swim trunks, ties, pants and more fine okonstruerade jackets in her collection.
