One of the strongest players in the classic Italian men’s fashion is undoubtedly Canali. Since 1934 it has provided Italians, American presidents and stylish Swedes with a top clothing. Today the company is run by the third generation Canalis and we have looked into the spring collection.
Some thoughts on Canalis history:
In 1934 it was founded as small family business which quickly focused on the growing demand of costumes on the market. During the 1950s, taking the second generation in the family of the company and from being a strong player in the Italian market is now beginning to increase in demand internationally.
After the 1960s launched a series of outer garments produced the highest standards of growing demand internationally in earnest in the 1970s when Canali starts exporting to the USA, England, France and Switzerland. Canali was the first Italian manufacturer during this period that introduced a mechanical cutting to streamline the large-scale production.
In the 1980s yuppie era stood out Canali strong and continues expansion to Europe, the Middle East and Canada.
In the 1990s, after a successful launch of its first accessories collection Canali opens its first flagship store in Milan.
Canali is today almost an institution of men’s fashion in Italy. The company is run by the third generation of the family and has taken as much as seven factories in Italy that produces as much as 250,000 garments a year. Most famous is the company for their jackets and suits in full kanvaskonstruktion that produces flexibility and an unbeatable case to the jacket.
Although Canali is best known as a classic business suits the company also offers more kontemporära garments showcased at Milan Fashion Week twice a year.
Recently launched also the new jacket line “Kei” which is a whole series okonstruerad blazer in the finest materials.
